Thank You Notes!

I love stationary, especially beautiful, simple, stationary that is both classic and modern.

For our wedding invitations, I ordered a return address blind embossing plate:

and embosser:

Then, I found these simple cards on Etsy (seller thepiedpaper), which I used for my inspiration:

Finally, I ordered this monogram embossing plate in my married initials. (Note, these will only be used for thank you notes being sent out after the wedding Smile).

I haven’t decided yet which paper liner I’m going to use for the envelopes, but they should be really pretty.

Bridal Jewelry!

A poster on the nest introduced me to Regina B jewelry, and found this pair of earrings for me which I absolutely LOVE!

I think I’m going to pair the dramatic earrings with a fabulous bracelet, or maybe something simple with diamonds or fake diamonds. Some ideas:

Engagement photo outfit–the cocktail look

Final set of engagement photo brainstorming, the cocktail look. Need an excuse to wear a hot pretty dress, and fabulous shoes of course. Oh yes, and some sparkling earrings.

Engagement photo outfit-the casual look

This set is take 2 of engagement photo brainstorming, aka the casual look. Nick and I both love our Toms, so we definitely need to incorporate some Toms into the mix at some point. Paired cropped jeans, with my black Toms, a black tank top, and this adorable California necklace (I bought two for myself and my sister, one in gold and one in silver).

Here comes the bridesmaid…

I’m a bridesmaid in my bridesmaid’s wedding coming up this August…

So I thought I’d share how I’m accessorizing her bridesmaid dress.

One of the other bridesmaids determined that we should all wear black open toe shoes and pearl jewelry (note, there are bridesmaidzillas, not just bridezillas Smile)

I’m not one for matching pearl necklaces and earrings (it’s way too matchy-matchy and stepford-wiveslike for me), but I love pairing a dramatic necklace with simple studs.

BridesmaidOutfitRachelsWedding

The dress is in the color lapis from David’s Bridal. The construction isn’t ideal, but the dress is actually quite cute, and the dark purple color is nice. It was also very affordable, which is always good when you’re also paying for your own wedding at the same time.

Just ordered these shoes from Nordstrom. They’re Badgley Mischka, and I really hope they fit, because they’re super cute!

The pearl necklace I already had, but here’s a similar one from Nordstrom. It’s nice and long, so can be wrapped twice.

Finally, these fake diamond studs. Eventually I want to get real diamond earrings, but this will do for now.

Envelope Liners

Envelope liners really add a pop, and make invitations go that extra mile of prettyness Smile.

At Paper Source, they can be purchased pre-cut, but they’re not that cheap ($5.95 for 10 liners). Still this is a great option for folks who are only semi DIY inclined.

Luckily, I found this great tutorial for how to make them yourself!

Invitation Suite

I’ve been going back and forth on how I wanted to design the invitations. I still haven’t decided if I want them to say “Dinner and Dancing to Follow” or “Reception to Follow.” I could also do “Wine, Dinner, and Dancing to Follow” but that feels a little wordy.

I came up with the idea of incorporating the Seattle skyline into our invitations, and really like it. I’m going to have a custom stamp made for the actual invitation so the skyline part can be embossed, and then place a tiny dark pink crystal on the top of the needle.

All parts will be printed on 100% recycled white paper (30% post consumer waste), mounted on 30% recycled black cardstock.

Can’t decide what to do about chairs….

These are the chairs in our venue:

image

Option 1: Keep the chairs as is. I don’t really like the look of them, but they don’t really clash with our colors. I just feel like they look too much like a business event, not a wedding.

Cost: Free

image

Option 2: White chair covers with black sashes. This is a picture of chairs from our venue with the style we’d go with. I was never a chair cover fan, but I do like the look of chair covers over square top chairs better. I would purchase the chair covers, and resell them afterwards, so I could potentially recoup some of the cost.

Cost: ~$3/chair, or $240 total

Option 3: Chair rentals. I love the look. Fits with our modern theme, and would work really well with our venue. Plus, we wouldn’t have to worry about set up. Downside, the cost. We can afford it, but it does feel a little wasteful…

Cost: $7.75/chair plus $60 delivery fee. Total: $680.
